April 13 - May 12, 2021
Muslims across the world begin observing the holy month of Ramadan on April 13, 2021. Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic calendar and marks a period of increased giving, prayer, charity, and fasting. During Ramadan, Muslims across the world fast during the day, and spend the night in prayers and reflection. The month of Ramadan typically sees festive gatherings at IAFL where we host the wider Muslim and non-Muslim community for dinner during the breaking of fast at dusk (iftar). This year, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the IAFL commnity will observe Ramadan largely from their homes while staying connected with each other with the aid of technology and gathering only for socially-distanced and limited-capacity night prayer sessions. IAFL wishes its community a blessed Ramadan!
