IAFL spiritual retreat, Apr. 13-14, 2018
Guest speaker Shaykh William ‘Haleem” Briannis will be visiting IAFL for Friday the 13th to deliver a Khutbah, and all day Saturday offering discussions on a variety of topics for all age groups. Participation from the community is highly encouraged. In an effort to increase participation, the IAFL Board, has decided to waive the registration fee for all members.
Registration for participation is compulsory. Deadline to register is by noon on April, 10.

IAFL elections 2017

The Islamic Association of Finger Lakes (IAFL) will hold its election for its Board ​and Council of Trustees on Dec. 17, 2017 starting at 1:45 PM. Membership is required in order to run for a position or to vote for a candidate. Refer to membership sign-up information below in order to sign up.
IAFL cleans up Hickory Grove Road under Cornell Cooperative Extension’s “adopt a highway” program on 10/22/2017 ​

​ The Islamic Association of Finger Lakes (IAFL) on 10/23/2017 cleaned up the Hickory Grove Road section between Gardner and Sing Sing Roads. IAFL has adopted this road under Cornell University’s Cooperative Extension Adopt a Highway program. The IAFL has committed to periodically cleaning the road.
IAFL hosts STIC annual interfaith gathering. Dr. Zaman Marwat elected STIC president 09/17/2017
The Islamic Association of Finger Lakes (IAFL) hosted on 09/17/2017 the Souther Tier Interfaith Coalition (STIC) annual interfaith gathering this year. The event was attended by STIC officials and members. An enlightening talk was given by Dr. Muhammad Shafiq, professor of religious studies at Nazareth College in Rochester, NY. Dr. Shafiq emphasized on the need for inter-religious harmony and drew parallels from the history of Protestant churches that eventually came together to form a more cohesive society. ​
​ The event was also marked by Dr. Zaman Marwat, the imam of IAFL being chosen as the STIC president for the next year.

IAFL Sunday School 09/10/2017

The IAFL Sunday School for the academic year 2017-18 begins classes 09/10/2017. We welcome the new as well as older students who have been promoted to new grade. We wish the teachers and administrators a productive school year.

​ Eid Al-Adha 09/01/2017
Eid Al-Adha will be observed on 09/01/2017. Eid prayer will take place at 8:30 AM, followed by community breakfast. Eid dinner will start at 6:30 PM.

The Islamic Association of the Finger Lakes (IAFL) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) religious organization that serves the Muslim community of the greater Finger Lakes region within the Southern Tier in NY state, including, but not limited to, Horseheads, Big Flats, Corning, Elmira and other areas.
IAFL seeks to provide an amiable atmosphere to the Muslims of the area for regular prayers, and other activities associated with the Muslim calendar. IAFL also seeks to build relationships with communities of other faiths in the Finger Lakes region. We aspire to be an inclusive place that is open to peoples of all faiths.
