Muslims across the world this year began observing the holy month of Ramadan on March 23, 20223. Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic calendar and marks a period of increased giving, prayer, charity, and fasting. During Ramadan, Muslims across the world fast during the day, and spend the night in prayers and reflection. The month of Ramadan typically sees festive gatherings at IAFL where we host the wider Muslim and non-Muslim community for dinner during the breaking of fast at dusk (iftar). This year, the IAFL commnity will observe Ramadan at the Islamic center.
